The Trees

  • Thirsty Scholar

"The Trees" is an improvisational trio from Indianapolis consisting of Riley Castellano, Dan Stempky, and Luke Farrow. Although stylistically different, the three seem to compliment each other's energy and character. With smooth rhythm and introspective melodies, The group creates original music that promotes a light hearted and open minded atmosphere.

Bon Temps

  • Thirsty Scholar

Let the music of Bon Temps with Gallegos & Thompson transport you to the time when Music, Art, and Poetry collided in the streets of Paris at the turn of the 20thcentury.

Heralded as the era known for exuding emotion, luminosity and textured soundscapes, Gallegos and Thompson harmonize melodies of composers such as Debussy, Ravel, Satie, and Faure, who dared to break from tradition and try “something different”. Inspired by tonalities and colors from the Far East and flavored with hints of Jazz which found their way from New Orleans to France, the genesis of creating music through impressions and symbols was born. Combining the beauty of the flute and the complexity of the piano, Gallegos and Thompson take the most adored songs of the French and paint a tapestry of music that warms the soul and transcends the listener to another time and place.

Afrodisiac and Troubled Epoch

  • Thirsty Scholar

Afrodisiac  is a special blend of funk, soul, and rock&roll designed to excite and arouse you.

Troubled Epoch: After the death of his grandmother in March 2016, Alstott began drafting a new album concept with the goal of discovering a meaningful creative process to help cope with the grief of losing a loved one. Around the same time, Alstott met Ross Wallgren while taking a physics course at IUPUI and the two quickly united over their passion for musical composition and alternative music. With Alstott's post-punk synthesizers and Wallgren's angst-driven and vulnerable vocals, the duo together created a sound to represent this troubled epoch of mourning- an electronic, gothic noise rock which beckoned comparisons to the likes of Bright Eyes and Joy Division. Troubled Epoch will be releasing its first studio album in the summer of 2017.

Royal Holland

  • Thirsty Scholar

Royal Holland is a singer-songwriter from Newport, KY playing dreamy folk rock songs about love and loss since early 2014. He is desperate to create elaborate, visceral, truthful musical stories in every new song. He stands upon the shoulders of his heroes of the art form; Leonard Cohen, Elliot Smith and Jeff Mangum among many others, and draws inspiration from the terribly beautiful and wonderfully horrible events of daily mundane life. He wants us all to feel beautiful and free.

Royal has led two bands over the past 14 years, but has recenty branched out as a solo artist. In his first year he has been featured on CMJ.com, shared the stage with Reggie and the Full Effect, released an initial 4 song E.P. titled "Volume One - The Maze" (recorded and produced by Grammy winning producer Brian Olive), begun work on a second E.P., cut a Nashville demo on Music Row , logged over 5000 touring miles and won The 2014 Ohio Music Award for “Best Folk Album”

Sal Brian

  • Thirsty Scholar

As a young singer-songwriter growing up in small-town Florida, Sal Brian became increasingly jaded with the open mic and cover band scene that surrounded him. Feeling uninspired by the lack of creativity and originality that permeated his environment, he exiled himself into a hazy immersion in his own artistic self-actualization, honing his craft in the seclusion of his rural home. Now, at the drifting age of 20, Brian is currently poised to embark on a van-dwelling pilgrimage across the variegated American landscape, singing his open songs in open rooms across the patchwork.

Brian's music stands on its own young legs, but fans of postmodern folk revival voices like Bon Iver and Bright Eyes will take to it like kudzu. With a nakedly sincere voice that hasn’t yet shaken all of its youthful angst, he sings contemplative, lyrically-driven music with unabashed vulnerability. Marked by a maturity and sharpness beyond his years, he uses his songs to explore the intricacies and subtleties of what it means to be human; and what happens when we find that we are not alone in the endeavor.

During his upcoming journeys,  Brian will visit Indianapolis, IN where he will be partnering with psych-folk singer-songwriter Joshua Powell (Joshua Powell & The Great Train Robbery), to produce his debut record, which will be available at the end of the year.
